An iPod, a portable media player, was designed by Apple. It was officially launched on October 23, 2001. The line-up has progressed over the years and currently includes:

- iPod Touch - high end touchscreen
- iPod Nano - mid level which is video-capable
- iPod Shuffle - entry level that is screenless
Previous products include the compact which was replaced by the iPod nano and the high-end iPod photo which has been integrated into the main iPod classic line. An iPod classic model stores on an internal hard drive while all other models, except the based mini, use a flash memory to activate their smaller size. Like many other digital music players, iPods can be used as external data storage devices.
