There have been a lot of buzz lately about the iPhone and open source programs for unlocking it.
The iPhone was announced last January 2007 and ever since, talk about it has not died down. It is a multimedia mobile phone from Apple and it is Internet-enabled. Its screen is multi-touch and has several nice features. It is a portable media player and is also a camera phone. Connectivity is possible through its WiFi and web-browsing and email capabilities. The iPhone is a quad-band, utilizes the GSM standard, and EDGE data technology is supported.
Apple has made the iPhone simlocked. It means once you choose a sim from a carrier, it would be your iPhone’s sim forever, no more changing! This is why there are so many talks about it and open source programs to get it unlocked. Open source means the software writing practices and principles that would be available to everybody. iPhone users want their devices to not be simlocked. That is why there are many hackers out there that are developing source codes that would remove the lock and making these source codes available to the public for free. Consumers prefer an unlocked iPhone and open source codes for unlocking them will be widely available soon!

Hard drives are used to store all the important information in a computer. Nothing can live forever and so also the hard drives. The hard drive may stop functioning normally and the data stored on it becomes inaccessible. This is termed as “hard disk crash”. Hard disk crash can be due to software malfunction, power surges, computer virus, mechanical failure, sabotage or any other reason.
What about all the files, documents, photos, videos and music on the crashed drive? Is all of it gone forever? Data recovery from a crashed hard drive is possible, but the chance of crashed hard drive recovery primarily depends on the case scenario. If the hard disk has failed due to any mechanical fault like head crash, PCB failure etc, professional data recovery help will be required to get the data off of the faulty drive. In case of physical crash the hard disk usually makes ticking and clicking noises. This type of recovery will require to crack open the hard drive in a class 100 clean room for disk recovery.
There are instances where the hard drive is functioning normally but the data on it is not accessible. This is the case of logical failure. Every time an attempt made to access the hard disk you receive error messages like invalid partition, Missing Operating System, Error Loading Operating System, Disk Requires Format, Disk Not Recognized, Unrecognized Format, Disk is not formatted, blue screen of death or disk is not formatted do You Want To Format it Now? These errors are the clear indication of hard disk logical failure. Data recovery software can easily retrieve data from a logically crashed hard drive. Regular data backup is the only preventive measure that can help to avoid data loss in case of a hard drive failure. Some people use raid servers as storage medium and when raids fail, seek Raid Recovery services. After a hard drive failure you can easily retrieve all the important data from the backup media, but if you have still missed out any important file, file recovery software can help.
