Windows 7 is the new operating system developed by Microsoft, the Windows Vista successor so to speak. Microsoft recently released the first milestone release to a group of testers and the responses so far have been mixed. First screenshots and videos resembled Windows Vista with a few new functions and cosmetic changes which is only natural if you consider that this milestone release had the version 6.1 and not 7.x.
Microsoft is close lipped when it comes to Windows 7 which is understandable considering that they do not want to hurt Windows Vista sales even more. The official announcement of an release date in 2009 would definitely hurt sales if you consider that this date is less than 2 years away from now. No company would make the migration to Windows Vista only to migrate again to a new operating system in the next year.
